Talking about diets and fasting with Span Health

We all intuitively appreciate that a healthy diet can make you look good, but what about how it shapes your mental and physical wellbeing?

Whether it’s brain-fog, low mood, aches and pains, anxiety or acne, your symptoms are usually driven by inflammation, hormone dysregulation and/or gut disturbances. And nutrition, is the very bedrock that controls these complex body systems.

In other words, diet is the most important medicine to optimise your overall wellbeing so you can thrive on a daily basis. The great news is that you are in control of it!

However, I understand it’s not quite as simple as that. We are all bombarded by nutrition advise and increasingly mystified by that simple question of what and when to eat.

While it may not be right for everyone, evidence is increasingly pointing towards low carb diets and intermittent fasting to improve mood, mental clarity, reduce anxiety, stabilise blood sugar, balance hormones, restore gut health… the list goes on!

The benefits of these nutritional interventions are far reaching, and you don't you have to do a complete overhaul on your diet to feel better. You could simply delay breakfast by 1-2 hours and see how that feels. You'll likely be more focused, energized and calm. Maybe as a result you'll whizz through your morning to-do list and enjoy conversations with people in the early hours of the day.

It’s important to know that small changes to your eating habits can have huge pay offs to how good you feel when you wake up in the morning — it might be just that one thing that can have a huge knock on effect to your overall wellbeing.

Independently from the physiological impact of eating healthy, paying more attention to what you eat is an act of self care and a guaranteed mood booster. You deserve to eat well and feel great.
